About the Position:
We are seeking a highly experienced Bridge Engineer to provide subject matter expertise for the project. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing bid documents, contractor submittals, and field conditions, as well as assisting with technical support related to bridge design and construction. You will work closely with contractors, and other SMEs to assess site conditions, resolve disputes, and ensure the successful delivery of the project. Additionally, you will play a key role in cost estimating, scheduling, risk assessments, and supporting systems integration testing and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review bid documents, RFIs, ATCs, VECPs, contractor submittals, and other technical documents related to bridge design and construction.
- Assess field conditions, differing site conditions, and construction defects or non-conformances.
- Provide technical advice on bridge design and construction.
- Contribute to cost estimating, scheduling, and risk assessments for bridge-related aspects of the project.
- Act as an intermediary in case of disagreements between stakeholders and help ensure smooth project execution.
- Support systems integration testing, subsystem testing, and commissioning related to bridge infrastructure.
- Collaborate with other SMEs, including Tunnel Engineers, Geotechnical Engineers, and Geologists, for integrated project solutions.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Licensing: California Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience:
- A minimum of 20 years of experience in design-build and CM/CG rail contracts, with significant experience in bridge engineering and construction support services.
- Proven expertise in the design, construction, and assessment of bridge structures for large-scale transportation projects.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of bridge design and construction techniques, including relevant codes and standards.
- Familiarity with reviewing construction documentation, contractor submittals, and field assessments.
- Experience in providing technical guidance and support during dispute resolution.
- Additional Skills: Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multi-disciplinary teams.
